FRENCH & DOUBLE DOORS
Two leaves, and the whole opening clear.
A pair of doors that meet in the middle, or a single door with a fixed partner. Open both and the opening is completely clear, with a lot more glass than a standard entry.
In-swing or out-swing
Out-swing sheds water better and saves interior floor space; in-swing is the traditional look. Impact-rated versions exist for both.
The astragal does the work
The centre post and a multipoint lock are what make a double door feel solid instead of rattly. It is worth spending the money there.
Full width when you want it
Between a living room and a lanai, a pair that opens fully changes how the room gets used.
Hardware that matches
Handlesets, hinges and the astragal finished the same way, so it reads as one unit and not a kit.
Before & after
Fogged glass and a failing sill, replaced.
Original wood French doors that had lost their seals, with the putty and the sill gone at the bottom. Swapped for a new pair with matching sidelites, then trimmed and sealed.
What we carry
French and double door units from Therma-Tru and Plastpro.
